‘Our City, Your Eyes’ is a powerful short film that explores the history of Senegal through spoken word. In early October, film student Pierre Niyongira and spoken word artist Splitz P were presented with an exciting opportunity to visit Senegal’s beautiful capital, Dakar. Out there, they were lucky enough to see many of the city’s famous monuments, attend the Festival de cinéma Image et Vie 2018 and gain an insight into Senegal’s vibrant culture. They came back with an evocative poetry film about Senegal’s history of slavery contrasted against the impressive creative scene that exists there today.
