What do young men of colour think about feminism?
Last month, we held another thought-provoking event at the Arnolfini in Bristol. This time the subject at hand was feminism and whether men have a role to play within it. The conversation was largely sparked by the thoughts behind Elias’ article in early May and the previous panel-led discussions held on the subject of “toxic masculinity” and male mental health.
At this one, we were joined by Adom Philogene-Heron, Delano Gournet-Moore, Peter Adegoke and Marcus Fagon. Adom’s academic knowledge on masculinity in the Caribbean was a valuable addition to the conversation and Delano made interesting points about the hurdles disenfranchised black males may face when encountering feminist thought. We hope that a female audience can appreciate the event as a first step in trying to engage men in an important conversation that they rarely have. Watch the discussion below and let us know your thoughts!
